Feeling my age a little

 Good morning blogland,

Well, this is a sort of 'hen's teeth' post - a card that I made for a person rather than a challenge! It's also the reason I'm starting to feel old. It's birthday season, yet again, for TTT and friends and this is the card I made for one of said friends.

It's the first birthday in her group who are all going to turn 16 this year. Which means, and this is what makes me feel even older, TTT is going to be 16 in June.  How old does that make me! Sigh A 'geriatric' mother from the outset!

We are in the whole preparing for GCSE's thing at the minute - early nights, revision, practice papers. TTT does appear to be 90% calm about it all and has good predicted grades, mostly 7s and 8s with a couple of 9s thrown in - with the odd 10% flare of temper.   Our biggest problem appears to be getting her to wake up on time to be on the bus, but on the whole going well. So fingers are crossed for after the Easter break when the exams start in earnest.

So I think that's enough waffle - here's the card:

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
All Dressed Up - Love my iPad (I can't find it in the shop to link - sorry!)
coloured with my Copics

Rubber stamps:
Sentiment:
Whimsy Stamps - You're my Always ('today')
taylored expressions : simple strips - birthday

Dies:
taylored expressions : Simple Strips - asymmetrical

Papers:
DCWV - Glitter Stack
allsorts

Anything else:
Bit of ribbon
flatback gems
American Crafts thickers (for the numbers)

Aaaand, done!

Colouring drama!

Good evening blogworld,

I was feeling quite pleased with myself after my first attempt the other day at no-lines colouring so thought I'd have another go.

This time it's gone Hmmmm!!! I think I might've picked the wrong image for my level of non-expertise, it was blooming hard! So to help me along a bit I decided to stamp another of the same image and colour that in as well.  I'm pretty sure the paper I used to stamp my ordinary image onto, was not Copic friendly even though it was in my Copic paper folder. It did not go well!

The no-lines image was definitely on Copic paper - it blended wonderfully, even if I was struggling with the image itself. However, the other one - my goodness it just would not go right! I struggled along but was about to bin it when TTT came home. Showed her the two images, talked about my colouring woes and she said 'but what are you worrying about - I like the one without lines the best, but they are both really good'! This from my biggest critic! So I said I'd carry on and turn them both into cards, which I finished today.

Here is the evidence for y'all to take a look at:

No-Lines

  Memento Ink pad:

Supplies used:

Rubber stamp:
Stamping Bella - Uptown Girls: Pattie and Dottie friends forever
coloured with Copics
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips : Friendship

Dies:
Catherine Pooler - 'Bestie'
My Favorite Things - Fishtail Foundations
Pretty Pink Posh - Scallop Borders One
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips : Asymmetrical

Anything else:
Dotty paper
Hobbyhouse rhinestones
fineliner for the doodling
Martha Stewart - essential colours glitter set
white gel pen

I'm not going to do the 'This is what I did' bit as it's repetitive, other than to say the no-lines colouring image went on the card on a large panel of Copic paper and the Memento Ink stamped one I fussy cut out.

Never say that I'm afraid to share - or even over-share - warts and all!

Hope everyone's colouring (if that's what you're into) has gone better this week.

Signing off now,
See you soon,
Sarah

Just for fun

Hello Blogworld,

Everyone be ready for a shocker - I did some colouring but not with Copics! I dug out my Prismacolor pencils and had a play with those instead - what's that I hear? shock, horror, rounds of 'are you feeling well, Sarah?'!

Yes, yes, now we have that jesting done with, I used to colour probably 75% Copics and 25% Prismacolors in the old days, more using the pencils to add definition on top of Copics.  I haven't used only pencils for many years and so this was very much a fun experiment and a learning curve / memory test!

I don't think the end result was too shabby, but my goodness I could not get a good picture of my pencil work.  The poor girl looks like she's got a bad case of sun-burn! One of those rare occasions when the original card looks way better than anything I can get in the picture.  No amount of photo editing or different light (and I did wait for later in the day and a different room to take more pictures) would fix it - so here you go I'm being brave here! :-)

and a close up of the image:

Supplies used:

Digital Stamp:
Image:
Time 4 Tea - Phoebe Hugs (another one I can't find in the shop so guessing she's retired)
coloured with Prismacolor Premier pencils

Rubber Stamp:
Sentiment:
Taylored Expressions - Sending Sunshine

Nothing else!

What I did:

Printed the image onto an A4 sheet of card, which I then turned into a DL (slimline) sized card blank.
Coloured in the image with my Prismacolors.
Stamped the sentiment near the image.

et, voila - job done!

I also doubt that the ordinary white card I use when making my own card blanks was the best medium to colour on.  However, I can't remember what I used to use and the card was made for a CAS One Layer challenge - so I worked with what I had.

If, no when, I do this again, I will investigate properly the better card to use and make a better job of it!

Also, in other news, pleased to report TTT is happily back at school - only a bit of a lingering cough left from the cold - and the Hubby is also on the mend. It seems I was lucky and didn't catch their cold - fingers crossed anyways!!

3rd attempt lucky!

I know, I know, it should be third time lucky - but this works better with the story!

Hello blogland,

So a near total lack of posting again this week, mostly due to trying to get this blooming card right! Flexing my Clean and Simple muscles again, but my goodness this one did not want to come together.  I even dreamt about it and it distracted me while I was doing my exercises - neither of which normally happens.

Anyway we got there eventually and, although still not 100% happy with it, it's something like the idea in my head.

Supplies used:

Rubber stamps:
Image:
Altenew - Peony Bouquet
Sentiment:
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips: Birthday

Die:
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips: Well Rounded

What I did:
Stamped the leaves and berries from Peony Bouquet in an arrangement that I liked in the corner - as shown onto a card mount.  You can't see from the picture but the mount is linen card.
Then stamped and die-cut sentiment and added it to the card with 3d foam squares for dimension.
Glued the  panel onto a square of coloured card and then glued that onto the card blank.

et voila, job done!

I'm back to stamping, colouring and not dreaming about cards now!

Hope everyone in blogland are doing well and happy.

For you

 Good morning Blogworld,

Two warnings - long rambling post (the heat has got to me) and lots of pictures!

As much as I'm a heat loving person this little heatwave is just about starting to be too much. I've dropped exercising the last two days in favour of hiding indoors and crafting - and a walk replaced my regular Tues evening jog. Am missing my jumping about and weights more than I thought I would! I've become a gym bunny!!

I do hope the temp drops slightly soon and I can get back into my normal exercise / craft routine.  Which in itself is going to be interrupted as TTT breaks for summer holidays today - so chaos ensues from Thursday!! Cannot believe she will go back in September in Year 10, edging ever closer to exam years - frightening how time flies.

Anyways, while hiding in house I've been crafting - and more eclipse technique cards have emerged. I even brought an alphabet die specifically to have a proper go at this technique, but after 'testing' the dies hubby confiscated them to form part of my birthday present.  I only managed to get two cards done before they were wrestled from me!!

I did debate turning this into two posts but the cards are so similar I decided just to do the two in one post.

And so, without further ado, cards:

(here come the pictures)

Card number one:

Card number two:

I set the die too low on card one and the 'Y' of 'YOU' was lost so I had to outline it in white - higher on card two but still debating if it should be outlined as well. Insufficient definition of  stamped and cut panel on card one, which was fixed on card two.  Then I preferred the sentiment on card one to card two. How do you pick favourites between two favourites??

I used:

Stamp (rubber):
Stamping Bella - Teeny Tiny Townie with a bouquet
coloured with Copics

Dies:
Go Kreate - Half XXL Square Frames: Frilly #1

Anything else:
rub-ons
gems

And done! After inflicting a lot of waffle and pictures on you - I'm running!
Stay safe, stay cool, and see you all soon,
Signing off,

Sarah

Beachward bound

Hello Blogworld,

Well that was another unintended break - no idea what happened other than I just sat down to write this post and realised it's been a week!

I could blame it on being busy trying to take the colouring up a level and colour both my own backgrounds / scenes and using digi images to build scenes - so was busy crafting instead of blogging. Or I could blame it on just not realising time was marching by.  Hmmm, wonder which it will be!

So onto card and onto my first attempt at making my own background. The image and sentiment are stamped but everything else is freehand.  Overall am pleased with it but, as always, can do with improvement which comes with practice.  Also doesn't help that I created my own unique Copic colour by re-filling a pen with the wrong colour! Still upside is that I'll have to go get a new pen (or two!) now.

So card:

 I used:

Stamps:
Some Odd Girl - Beachy Tia
Whimsy Stamps - Fantabulous

Coloured with Copics

Dies:
Pretty Pink Posh - Scalloped Borders 1
Creative Expressions - Noble Collection Double Stitched Rectangles

Anything else:
Anna Marie Designs - Stripe Paper
string from my stash

I will be sharing attempt number two at creating a background during the week - how exciting!! 😉

A Bumble Bee

 Hello blogworld,

Hope everyone had a good weekend and got the good weather the UK has been having? Here in Lincolnshire, it was sunny (for a change), which is good timing as TTT was invited to join a couple of friends in a local Aquapark,  Basically an obstacle course on water - she had great fun!

So onto today's card - I'm trying Instagram as well as Blogging and I saw this image being used just after I'd thought about stamping and colouring it. Had a conversation about how I should stamp it as well and, well here I am and will be on Instagram shortly! First time  I've tried creating my own pleats / folds on a dress - not done too badly I think, but obviously more work needed.

Without further ado - here's card:

I used:

Stamps: Sugar Nellie (Suzanne Woolcott) - Bumble Bee
Sentiment - Fiskars - Laugh With Me Sentiments

Coloured with Copics

Paper: First Edition - New Bloom

Dies: MFT - Die-namics - Stitched Rectangles Stax

Flower: Anne Marie Designs - Mount Board blooms

Can you believe this stamp was released in 2009!  I couldn't believe how many stamp companies had gone in my break from crafting - some of them my total favourites as well. 2009 wasn't even when I first started making cards, probably that was around the early 2000's.  Goodness it makes me feel old.

And that definitely is it from me today,

Back for good..

Hmmm, wonder if anyone's ever thought of using that in a song!

Morning blogworld,

Apologies for absence, again!, it's been half-term here in sunny Lincolnshire and with TTT at home all schedules (for that read normal activities, exercise, me time!) go out the window.

All I've managed to do crafty wise was a little bit of colouring on Saturday, other than that my craft supplies got consigned to the junk room, again.

But, as it's back to school today, hopefully it's back to normal as well - hence the early morning post.

So although I've had no craft time I do have a couple of cards I made before the school hols - those will be my catch-ups until I get some colouring time in the next few days.

Therefore, catch-up card number one:

This one was made for a friend's of TTT's birthday at the beginning of the school holidays.  I very much doubt she reads my blog so feel safe sharing it now.

I used:
Stamp: The Greeting Farm - Miss Anya : Hats Off
Coloured with Copics
Paper: Prima - Fairy Flora
Anything else: Sentiment from Craftwork Cards and a bit of trim from my stuff

Think I hear the rest of the house stirring, so time for me to go,

Fantabulous!

Hello blogworld,

Did you notice the little absence there, then?  I'm guessing probably not, as you are as busy as I am, but you never know. Anyways, am back now, maybe not as regularly for this week - as it is half-term so TTT is at home - but I will be back again before you know it.

So onto card, and it's another one of the Anya styles stamped and coloured during my 'what went wrong there then' panic.

Actually, blowing me own trumpet here - I'm quite pleased with this one!

And so, card:

I used:

Rubber stamp: The Greeting Farm - Anya Styles

and Whimsy Stamps - Fantabulous for the sentiment

Coloured with : Copics

Die : Pretty Pink Posh - Scallop Borders 2

Paper: BoBunny - Isabella

Anything else: couple little foam hearts from my stuff

Dreams do come true

Morning world,

So to go back to my little experiment with papers, ink and colouring at the weekend, where I discovered that Versafine and Copics no longer mix. Good job I had a Memento ink pad to hand!

I find it a little odd that up until the weekend the Versafine hadn't bled when colouring but I can't deny it did, and it did it every time I stamped and coloured my images on a range of papers. No denying it's unsuitable for Copic colouring, still good though for any other stamps.

So am now a definite Memento ink for colouring in with Copics kinda gal!

Here is the first card made following the experiment. I like it mostly, but I always struggle with sentiments - either size of, place of or just which one to use - and I'm not sure the sentiment really goes with the image, but hey ho it's what I went with!

 I used:

Image: The Greeting Farm - Anya Styles

Sentiment: Catherine Pooler - All Around Wishes

Coloured with Copics

Papers: Bo Bunny - Ambrosia and Prima - Fairy Flora

Lace and ribbon from my stuff

P.S.: For the curious among you - a quick shot of all the images I was working on, the stamp I used and my 'Copic combos' images. Ha, I never noticed until just now - the mat is soooo mucky!!  My goodness, how did that happen!! 🤣

Will be back another time with variations on the theme!

Dream big

 Morning world,

A quiet weekend for me this time, no blister inducing days out with TTT and her friends (thankfully!), meant that I could do a large amount of crafting. Much better than blister inducing walking.

However, the disappointment, an image I'd stamped smudged when I was colouring in - that lead to a lot of stamping of same image with different ink pads on all the different types of stamping/colouring specific paper I have. Discovered that Versamark doesn't seem to like Copics anymore, don't remember that being a thing but there you go. Expect a stream of cards with one image coloured differently appearing in due course.

Having to stamp and re-stamp also inspired me to do a set of colouring index cards, always fancied having some sort of reference but never took the time to create one - have now!

Enough waffle, card:

I used:

Stamp: The Greeting Farm - Miss Anya Hats off

Coloured with Copics

Dies: Pretty Pink Posh - Scallop Borders Set 1 and Spellbinders - Floral Ovals

Papers: Bo Bunny - Smoochable

Everything else: 'Dream' and 'big' chipboard letters, bit of coloured paper string - all from my stuff.

Let's Party!

 Morning world,

I think I need a new system to log which cards I have or haven't blogged - this one fell through the net. I'm thinking  'blogged' and 'not blogged' folders will be simple enough for me to understand!

Not much has happened since my last post, other than I got soaked doing a 5km jog, came home like a drowned rat! Also my blisters are slowly going away, blooming awkward place to try and put a plaster though, back of heel, they keep falling off.

Let's move onto my not blogged card:

I used:

Stamps: Stamping Bella - Ava loves to celebrate; Sentiment - Lili of the Valley

Coloured with copics

Dies: La La Land - Heart Banner

Everything else: My endless craft supplies

Wouldn't it be nice...

to be somewhere just chilling out in a field of flowers like the sweet girl in the LoTV stamp?  Not for me, not today!

Good morning world

Saturday went well for TTT and her friends - they had a lovely time - I spent from 10am to 4pm on my feet in new shoes and now have humongous blisters! No sympathy from either her or hubby - they just politely enquired as to why I didn't wear comfy shoes if I knew I was going to be on my feet all day!!  'Fashion, people, fashion!' is my reply. I'm nearing a large birthday and do not want to be an old lady - so I'm denying my age for as long as I can.

Anyhoo enough rambling, got things to do, so onto card. Oh and you know how I said no new craft stuff needed, weeeell 'needed' and 'wanted' are relative terms aren't they?

So I used:

Stamp - Lili of the Valley: it's another old stamp that I just cannot find on-line but I think it's called Summer Daydream or just Daydreamer something like that, I'm not sure.

Coloured with Copics

Sentiment: Catherine Pooler - All Around Wishes Sentiments stamps.

Dies: Pretty Pink Posh - stitched circles and Catherine Pooler - Wishes word die

Everything else: un-named patterned paper from my stuff and ribbon from my stuff.

Hope everyone else had nice relaxing, non blister inducing weekends.

Running late today

 Hello world

Posting later than have been, been busy finishing off my recent cards - you know doing inserts; finding envelopes and putting into clear bags.  Needs to be done but a bit boring.

Also led me down the road of going through the storage units and discovering all the things I brought over the years and am very unlikely to ever use again.  ebay is calling, me thinks!  Once I can get hubbies attention for long enough to list stuff - he does ebay not me.

So card for tonight is:

I stamped the fence, sentiment and corner onto the white mat and then separately stamped, coloured and cut out the Pixie and popped her back on with 3d foam for a bit of depth. The corner and sentiment didn't go in quite the right place, but it's no too bad (I think!). Mounted that panel onto the Dottie card and then mounted the whole lot on the card blank.

Stamps :

Images - C.C Designs: Swiss Pixie Brigitta and Butterfly Fence; Sentiment - TPC Studio: Boho Blooms; Corner - Jen Wilson, Laundry Line: Flirty "Lil Girl"

Images coloured with my Copics

Anne Marie Designs - Dottie Card

Craftwork Cards - Kraft card blank

Got to go as got dishes to do before bed, and a long day tomorrow. I'm taking TTT to the seaside with some of her friends - celebrating being allowed to meet up outside. It's going to rain but they are all 13 / 14 yrs old and say they don't care - I'm nowhere near 13 and do care!  But, hey ho that's parental duties for you!

Who hid the ribbons?

Morning World

I am being really regular at this blogging lark, aren't I? Still enjoying colouring, though wasting serious amounts of time looking through the huge amount of digis / rubber stamps I've got as to which to pick next!

I'd also forgotten how small some of my older stamps are - talking about 10+ years old rubber stamps here - they are tiny.  I look at them now and wonder how I'd colour them, which will be a test for my colouring skills at some point in the future.

Anyhoos, onto today's card. Full disclosure (or excuses - depends on how you look at the problem!) my printer was playing up and printed the digi slightly blurry and faint, but I thought well keep on it should be ok. I realised eventually it probably hadn't printed the bows in her hair properly and now I've no idea what's going on with the bows - to my eyes they look plain weird.  I'll let you make your own decisions.

I used:

Image - All Dressed Up : Sweetie Pie

As always coloured with Copics

Dies : Pretty Pink Posh - stitched circles;  Memory Box - Riviera Corner

Everything else: Prima - flowers; My Mind's Eye, Miss Caroline - paper; Daisy Bucket Designs - sentiment.

Who doesn't love ice-cream?

 Hello world,

I know I do! A bit too much really, which explains why I now also work out most days.  It's been a complete turn around really, from never exercising to exercising 5/6 days a week, done me good it has to be said but it's still a struggle some days to convince myself I 'want' to go jump around or lift weights!

Anyways, sorry went off topic there.  Back to cards, still on a Stamping Bella kick due to the amount of un-inked stamps. Safe to say I have many other brands of stamps that are un-inked so I will be offering more variety soon!

I am finding it sad though, to find so many of my favourite stamping companies no longer exist.  Some real proper favourites appear to have just gone and I wonder did this happen recently or have they been gone for ages and, being out of the hobby, I just wasn't aware.

So today's card:

Hmm, looks like my attempt at an 'interesting' background is a bit match-matchy.  Try something different next time I think.

I used:

Image - Stamping Bella : uptown girl Isabelle loves her ice-cream

Colouring - Copics

Dies - memory box : picket fence; Pretty Pink Posh : Scallop Borders 1

Paper - Cart-us : Vintage Romance

And I'm off to jump around a bit now.

Flower Power

 Hello blogworld

My word this bank holiday has completely messed with my understanding of what day of the week it is!  Not as bad as in the depths of lockdown when I didn't know what week it was let alone which day - this time the bank holiday has just thrown me off slightly.

Anyways I'm still on my crafting kick, and enjoying it, however it comes with a warning.  I must set myself a monthly spending limit - I'm being tempted with new products all the time.

Having said all that, I only used two new dies on this card - everything else is well old.  The stamp is so old, in fact, that I can't find it at all except 2nd hand on e-bay!

Supplies:

Image - Lili of the Valley: Millie Flower Power (no point in linking as it's no longer around - and I've really searched).

Colouring - Copics

Paper: First Edition - Blank Canvas

Dies: Pretty Pink Posh - Scallop Borders 1 and Lawn Fawn - Happy Birthday Border

Wonderful Day

 Hello world,

Well I certainly do wish it was a wonderful day, it definately has been a rainy day which has kept me inside crafting but not sure that I could class it as wonderful!

I'm on a bit of a Stamping Bella kick at the moment, in that when I was going through the many drawers of stamps I have I found a lot of Stamping Bella that I'd never inked up. So I decided to pull out those stamps, open the packets and actually - shock horror - use them!

For a change, as Stamping Bella is still going strong, you can still find the string of stamps I'm going to be sharing unlike recently. I guess, though, even if everyone who follows my blog (hello, Hazel - hope all is well :-) ) contacts me to ask which stamp I'm using I won't be inundated with messages!

So card:

It's a bigger card base than my usual go to square and I found it a little difficult to get a good picture of. Hope the odd angle doesn't put you off too much!

I used:

Image : Stamping Bella - Uptown Girl Bianca loves her Big Cake

Colouring : Copics

Dies: Pretty Pink Posh - Scallop Borders 2

Everything else from my stores.

So I hope everyone else is doing ok, hunkered down in the this darn awful weather.

A present for you

 Good morning world,

Hmmm, a mixed bag this morning.  Went to bed too late for these old bones and so this morning it's been a bit hit and miss so far due to wandering around only half awake!

Definitely hit and miss with cards at the moment.  Today's card I mostly liked, but was a begger to take a pic of. I saw a 'no squares' challenge at my old stomping ground Sweet Stampin' Challenge and decided to give it a go with an easel card.  Been so long, I had to dig out an old card to use as a template as I couldn't remember how to make them.

I used:
Image -  Stamping Bella - Posh has a present stamp (which I probably got from Dies to Die For (as I was a big shopper there back in the day) but am not sure).

Coloured with Copics - as always. A little bit of stickles glitter glue on the bag as well.

Sentiment -  Lili of the Valley - mine is a clear stamp not a digi.  Looks like they don't do rubber at all anymore.  Am well out of  the loop!

Dies - Go-Kreate for the card shape and Impression Obsession for the bows.

Everything else came from very old supplies.

Now to go off piste.  In addition to making cards I bake - my specialities being cakes, cookies, pastries and bread.  So, before 10am, I've already re-heated a choc au pain (for TTT's breakfast) and made a couple of sourdough loaves but, because of the aforesaid brain fog, the first one went in the oven on a cold baking stone - not a good idea - at too high a temperature and had to be scraped off the stone at end of time. The second loaf I wasn't sure about at all, as it's an experimental recipe and I'm not sure it worked.

Proof is in the eating - as the saying goes!  I will report back in due course.

Have the best day you can, everyone.
Signing off,
Sarah
