Christmas in July

Late with this post so no waffle,

Hi all,

It's time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin' Challenge and this fortnight the theme is 'Christmas in July'.

As always we are a 'for fun' challenge so there are no prizes, just Top Picks, but to enter you do still have to follow two simple rules. These rules being - please stamp (rubber or digital) somewhere on your project you are entering and follow the theme!

So here's my card:

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
an etsy shop called PoppyLane Digital but they have since closed up and gone
coloured with my Copics
and the sentiment I made in Publisher

Dies:
Creative Expressions - Noble Collection : Double Stitched squares
Creative Expressions - Pearly Snowflake Border

Anything else:
self adhesive pearls

A little bit of honesty here - you may have guessed (or not who knows!) this wasn't made specifically for this challenge.  I don't start Christmas cards early.  This was made for Christmas 2024 for TTT and, for once, it's a card she actually liked!

If there's anyone left out there who is actually reading the stuff I post - I thank you! You've been great to keep coming here when I've not got the time to give back to you at all and please pop on over to the challenge blog where my Teamies have done wonders with the theme.

So, so, so late!

Evening blogland,

I've just realised I haven't posted my DT card for the new (well relatively new now!) challenge over at Sweet Stampin' - such a bad, forgetful Teamie!

So without all the usual waffle, I'll just say this is a month long challenge - instead of the fortnightly ones we usually do - so it runs until early in the New Year, it's 'Christmas' themed and, as always, you have to stamp somewhere on your entry.  It doesn't have to be stamp and colour like I do, that's just because I love colouring, you can stamp and emboss, just stamp - anything really that involves either rubber and ink or a digital image.

This is my card:

Supplies used:

Rubber stamp:
Stamping Bella - Tangled Yeti
coloured with my Copics
sentiment created in Publisher and printed

Dies:
Creative Craft Products - A2 essentials landscape card die set
My Favorite Things - Fishtail Foundation

Anything else?
flat backed sparkles and pearls

And that's it folks - I could tell you that I've had a wonderful visit to the dentist (not!) for two fillings, that TTT was off sick from 6th Form last week (ear infection) and only went back today, that hopefully we should have a builder turn up sometime this week to look at our leaky door / windows and that I watched the Strictly Final on Sat, first time ever, and thoroughly enjoyed it  - but I don't know that I've got time to impart that information!! So I'll just rush on and say apologies again for the late post and see you soon!

And even closer

Good morning blogland

Christmas is getting even closer - is what! Ha, I even went and did minimal Christmas shopping, a great achievement for someone who really doesn't 'feel' it for Christmas! For me the day was really about spending time with a happy TTT and to raid charity shops in our nearest Market Town and I did get some good bargains whilst helping Charities as well.

Finally to the point of the post - yesterday was the first Saturday of a new month and so it's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Calendar Challenge and the theme for the month of December is 'Christmas'.

Our sponsor for this Challenge is the wonderful Polkadoodles who have given a fabulous prize for one lucky winner, they also allowed the DT to pick an image to use and this is my make with that digi stamp:

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
Polkadoodles - New Friends
coloured with my Copics

Rubber stamps:
Altenew - Thanks for everything
Creative Expressions - Festive Wishes

Dies:
John Next Door - Twinkling Snowflakes
Un-branded stitched rectangles

Anything else:
flat backed gems

If there's anyone left who reads my blog - which considering how bad a blogger I've been for the past year I wouldn't be surprised if there was no-one left who looks at it! -  may have noticed I'm a day late with my post.  This was a combination of going out, as said, for a bit of Christmas shopping and coming home to a house that was leaking from the effects of Storm Darragh which meant no computer time at all yesterday.

The water leakage wasn't sandbags or flooding level, but a steady stream bubbling in under the front door meant me and the hubby were mopping continuously (in shifts) for the whole evening until quite late when the rain let up.  What fun for a Saturday evening!

Hope everyone else in the path of Storm Darragh has escaped the worst of it and I'm looking forward to not having blankets, towels and a mop piled behind my front door!

See you soon,

Sarah

Creeping ever closer

to 'that' time of the Year!

Good morning blogland,

And here we are in December and, yes, creeping ever closer to Christmas! However you don't have to go all Christmas-y over at this weeks' Passion for Markers challenge, if you don't want. I mean you could, seeing as the theme is 'Presents - at least one!' but you don't have to.

It's a great theme chosen by our Teamie Sue, as it's open to some interpretation - Christmas presents, birthday presents - you choose just as long as there is at least one present there somewhere! To be in with a chance at the prize there are two rules to observe - follow the theme and use your markers.  Talking of fab prizes, our Sponsor this week is The Paper Shelter - with a prize of three digi images for the lucky winner.

As this weeks' sponsors The Paper Shelter also very kindly gave the DT a digi stamp to work with and this is my make with that digi:

Supplies used:

Digital Stamp:
The Paper Shelter - Merry Christmas my dear
coloured with Copics

Rubber Stamp:
Creative Expression - Festive Wishes

Dies:
Whimsy Stamps - OMG! word die set
un-branded stitched rectangles

Anything else:
red wood effect card
white Sakura gel pen

And that's about it folks! I do hope you take a wander over to the challenge and take a look at my Teamies cards - fabulous every one! - then, as you are there, why not pop in a make of your own!

Until the next time,
Sees ya!
Sarah

Very late!

 Morning blogland,

It's just dawned on me that I haven't posted my card made for this month's All Dressed Up new release! There are two drops of New Releases per month and I'm with the 7th of the month crew - just look at the date today! I'm 13 days late with this post / card!

So, without further ado, here's my take on my image for the November New Release from ADU:

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
All Dressed Up - Skater
coloured with my Copics

Rubber stamp:
Creative Expressions - Festive Wishes

Dies:
My Favorite Things - Fishtail Foundations
Memory Box - Snowflake Corner
un=branded stitched rectangles

Anything else:
random piece of patterned paper
flat backed gems

I'm not going to bang on, seeing as I'm incredibly late with this post, but I will say I did disappear off into the new home gym yesterday and, by gum, I'm feeling it today.  My legs are feeling 18months of lack of work!!  I remember this feeling from when I first started on my fitness journey 5 years ago and all I can say is - bring on 18 months time future me when it doesn't ache so much!!

See you soon,
Sarah

It's getting closer

But I'm still trying very hard to ignore it - Christmas that is!

Good morning blogland

Another Tuesday has rolled around and so it's time for a new challenge over at Passion for Markers, this week our lovely Teamie Marie has picked the theme - she went for 'Christmas', very appropriate if you are gearing up for the coming Christmas season.  Our sponsor is Polkadoodles and a lovely prize is waiting for one lucky winner!

Now I won't bang on about how I'm not that enthused either by Christmas cards or Christmas itself.  Just suffice it to say that it's a might too early to be talking about Christmas for me and you won't be seeing that many of these themed cards on my blog!

In the meantime - and in the spirit of I love colouring and will colour pretty much any digi, themed or not - this is my card made for the challenge:

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
Polkadoodles - Santa Snowman gift
coloured with my Copics

Rubber stamp (sentiment):
Creative Expressions - Festive Wishes

Dies:
un-branded stitched rectangles
Creative Expressions - Pearly Snowflake Border

Anything else:
blue light card
flat backed glittery gems

You should really pop over to the challenge blog, my Teamies have produced some wonderful Christmas themed cards - and don't moan about Christmas either!

And that's it folks - I'll see you next time.

'Tis 'not' the night before Christmas

Morning blogland

Hmmm, so this is my post for the new challenge over at Passion for Markers and, the theme this week has been picked by the lovely Sue.  Sue, as you may have guessed, went for 'Christmas' as her theme  and we are sponsored by Dies to Die For, with a fab prize of a £15.00 voucher for the lucky winner.

I'm sure for all you crafters out there who make loads of Christmas cards, and make them early, this is going to be a fabulous challenge.  However, I'm not one of those and so this is the only Christmas card you're going to see on my blog for a loooong time! So enjoy!

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
brought from an Etsy shop called zekesami and the image itself is 'Tania'
coloured with my Copics
(I do love a good poke around in Etsy shops!)

Dies:
un-branded stitched rectangle set
Creative Expressions - Stylish Script: Christmas Wishes

Anything else:
flat backed gems

And that's it folks.  Other than to say I obviously did something weird with the girls face, if I colour her again I think I'd create a full nose, not just a shadow of a one.

On a personal note we are still currently driving around at weekends looking at possible Universities for when TTT finishes 6th Form next year.  She doesn't want to go too far so we are sticking to within a 2 or 3 hours drive, but it still means we can cover a lot of ground! I'm starting to loose track of which Universities are which and so far none seem to stick out for her! Hey ho - I'm sure we'll get there in the end.

See you all soon,
Sarah

Goodbye 2023.....

 Hello 2024!

Good afternoon blogland,

I know I'm probably posting this to a completely empty space while you are all off out celebrating the incipient arrival of 2024.  We, however in Chez Sarah, are very boring at New Year (well to be fair we are boring most of the year - so New Year makes no difference!) and treat it as just another day in the life of Sarah and family.

So I'm here to catch up with my final card of the year - it's my All Dressed Up Facebook Challenge inspiration.  Probably you're all too busy celebrating New Year to squeeze in a card in the final hours of the challenge, but I felt like waffling so here I am!  I wonder if it's getting old that starts you sitting down and thinking??!!

Supplies used:

Digital Stamp:
All Dressed Up - Christmas Post
coloured with my Copics

Dies used:
unbranded stitched rectangle set
Creative Obsessions - Sue Wilson: Festive Collection

Embossing folder:
Do-crafts - Snowflakes

Anything else:
sparkle card
red cardstock

Funny isn't it - who celebrates what?  Growing up my family (parents and older sister) went all out on Christmas and almost totally ignored New Year.  On my moving out and in with boyfriend who later became1st hubby it all changed to Christmas bleugh, but New Year - whey-hey!!  Then again he was Scottish and Hogmanay meant a lot to him! Then fast forward to single again and meeting current other half - he (and his family) it was both Christmas and New Year that were celebrated equally.

Now, another considerable amount of time has gone, we went through Christmas being important for TTT when she was little and New Year was bleugh.  Now both holidays are rather bleugh if you ask me! I'm not Grinch-y or anti-fun at New Year - they just seem to pass by in a weeks' worth of sleeping in and not doing much.

Whereas me - I'd like to be out doing something!  One of these years I'm going to try being on holiday over the Christmas / New Year period - see if that is what does it for me!  I'd love to see New York at Christmas and New Year - it always looks fabulous in films and on TV!

Anyhooo, there you go that's my little meander of the mind done.

I hope that 2023 closes well for everyone and for those of you to whom 2023 was the year from Hell best wishes and sincere hopes that 2024 is better.

Happy New Year!

Sarah

Little bit of news for you

Good evening blogland,

I'm to share two things this evening, one is my (very late) DT card for All Dressed Up new release for December.  For this piece of news here's my card:

Dies used:
Pretty Pink Posh - Scallop Borders 1
unb-branded stitched rectangles

Anything else:

Such a cute image and great fun to colour!

Second piece of news is in the New Year I will be joining the DT at Passion for Markers!  I've been playing along with their challenges for many, many years - even before I had my break from crafting - right back to when they were Passion for ProMarkers.  There that is showing my age! So you can guess how pleased and honoured I was to be invited onto the Team.

I only hope I can do their challenges justice - I certainly will enjoy getting my markers out and colouring, as I'm sure you will have read me blathering on about I love colouring!!

Anyways, I will be back before the end of the month with my DT Facebook Challenge Inspiration for All Dressed Up, but for now I'm off as it's TTT's last day at 6th Form for this Term tomorrow and she's already loading the car with presents for friends!!

See you laters,
Sarah

On a personal note I appreciate I'm being the worse blogger in the world at the moment - not replying to any comments or doing any commenting myself (other than DT). I offer up my sincere apologies and can only say life is hectic and I do, truly, hope to be back to normal as soon as possible.

Cheers,
Sarah

Sweetie Christmas

Good morning blogland,

This is the first of two posts from me today.

As it's a Saturday it's time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin' Challenge - this time, as we are coming up on Christmas, we are having a month-long challenge. You probably won't be surprised to learn the theme is Anything Christmas, any type of craft is welcome but please remember there has to be some stamping (digital or rubber) on it somewhere.

This is my card:

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
Pollycraft - Happy Mail (no link as Pollycraft no longer exists)
coloured with my Copics

Rubber stamp:
Altenew - Festive Sillouettes

Dies:
un-branded DL stitched dies set

Anything else:
Creative Expressions - Clouds stencil
Distress Inks
blending brush
red card

I'll be back myself (today, inf fact!) before the end of the Year but that's it from The Sweeties this year. I hope you all have a non-stressful run up to the Christmas season and as a pleasant a Christmas (if you celebrate) as is possible.  See you in 2023!

Sarah

Not a Reindeer!

 Good morning blogland,

Running slightly late here, as TTT is not feeling well and I've been doing the whole yes/no school thing - which has ended with a 'no' and mucked up my morning. She's back in bed and asleep now so I can get on, but with less 'waffle' than normal.

And, getting on is telling you it's time for a new challenge over at Colour Crazy Challenge.  This week's wonderful sponsor is HettyClare.  The DT were very kindly given digis to pick from, this is my make with the super cute Pony Xmas Hat.

My line of thinking went a bit like this - could someone be trying to dress the pony like Rudolph the Reindeer, and would that annoy a cute, but possibly grumpy, pony? Hmmmm, maybe! Let's go with that, it could be funny!

Card that arrived from that idea:

Supplies used:
Digital Stamp:
HettyClare - Pony Xmas Hat
coloured with my Copics

Sentiment I created in Publisher

Dies:
un-branded stitched DL set

Anything else:
Picket Fence Studios stencil - Artic Winter
Distress Ink
stencil brush
bit of twine
red card

So, I do hope all you colourists out there get a chance to pop over and join in with the Challenge, there are some fab inspiration cards from my Teamies and a great prize on offer.

See you soon,
Sarah

OK, so another one of those cards

Good evening blogland

I'm nipping in here before the end of the month to share my All Dressed Up FaceBook group challenge inspiration card.

This month the theme is 'Seasons Greetings', so it's time to dig out the Seasonal images and do Christmas far too early in the year! Still it's not too bad this time, even though I'm not keen on the whole season, I quite like this card. I like the image and my colour scheme - going monochrome is one of my favourite ways to colour.

There's a load of fabulous inspiration from the other Facebook Teamies, if you Facebook why not head over and pop in an entry.  You've still got a week to go till the end of the month and the challenge closes.

And here's the card:

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
coloured with my Copics

Dies used:
Un-branded stitched rectangle dies

Anything else:
Bakers Twine
star embellishment

Hope everyone is doing well - we've just got back from TTT's schools' 6th Form Open Evening. Can't believe she's doing GCSE's next year and thinking about A Levels already!  Still no idea what she wants to do for a career though. I'm not surprised - who really knows what they want to do for their life at 15 years of age!

It's getting a bit late so I'm heading off now, got dishes to do and a bed calling!

Nope, no way, not yet!

 Good evening blogworld,

There's actually two nope, no way, not yets' to cover here.  One is it's time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin' and the challenge theme this fortnight is 'Christmas in September', good for all you wonderfully organised people who are already making their Christmas cards.

For all the others, me really!, it's oh my Lord - nope, no way, not yet is the year working it's way to Christmas! I'm also not supposed to be here this week, it's not my Team's turn, but Winter brain has already set in and I made a card before I realised that it wasn't my Team. I've made no secret of the fact that Christmas isn't my favourite time of the year but there you go - I've made a card already and someone will be very honoured to have this hen's teeth of an item I'm sure.

Please come join in with the challenge, my Teamies - well this weeks' temporary Teamies - have made a wonderful selection of inspiration cards which are well worth a pop over and look at.  Do however remember this is a stamping challenge so your entry does need some element of stamping (rubber or digi) on it.

The card:

Supplies used:

Rubber stamp:
Whimsy Stamps - Penguin Christmas Sweetheart
coloured with my Copics

Dies:
Creative Expressions - Sue Wilson 'Big Words'
unbranded stitched rectangle dies

Anything else:
Cuttlebug embossing folder - snowflakes
doesn't show up very well in the picture at all, but I promise it's there.

The other nope, no way, not yet is that TTT goes off on her Iceland adventure tomorrow.  We have to be outside school (about a 15 min drive away) for 5.20am!!! We've spent all day buying last minute supplies, packing the suitcase and double checking that she's got everything she needs for this grand adventure.  We pick her up next Saturday at 2am, when she will no doubt be very tired and grumpy!

Anyways I'm extremely late with this post - see reason above - and as it's nearly 8pm I'm off to bed to get ready for my early start in the morning.

I'll link up to some challenges and then that's it I'm gone!

See you soon,
Sarah

A card round-up

Good evening blogland,

Back again now all the festivities are over - I truly hope all those of you who celebrate Christmas had a lovely day and those of you who don't had the best day possible and to those of you who (like me) just get through it I really do truly wish that you got over rough ground as lightly as possible.

Ours was, as always, a very quiet time - we went over friends house Christmas eve evening and then we three spent the day very quietly at home.

Some very happy gift exchanging happened and I've spent the last couple of days transferring data / files / etc from old phone and lap-top to new phone and lap-top.  I think I'm there and all gadgets appear to be working ok.  I also got a new pen case to accommodate my ever growing Copic pen collection and a very professional looking light-box so hopefully I'll no longer have to chase the light around the house when taking pictures of my cards.

Talking of cards, here are the last few that I made - wonder if you can guess which are mine and hubby's to TTT?? Oh, and the card I made for TTT's boyfriend is in the mix as well.

I won't do individual 'this is what I did' as it will make for an extremely long blog post (even longer than I've already made it!) so just listing relevant products used.

Whimsy Stamps - Penguins decorate the tree
Paper - First Edition : Artic Wonder
Various dies

Copic colouring following My Creative Scoop lessons
Random sentiment stamp

Lili of The Valley - Jasmine Christmas Presents
Sweet November Stamps - for the sentiment
Distress Inks and Mica Spray for the background

All Dressed Up - Christmas Couple
Random Christmas sentiment stamp
Snowflake punch

All Dressed Up - Christmas Baubles
Random sentiment
Glitter
Pretty Pink Posh die

I believe, apart from the odd card made with a die, that's all my Christmas cards blogged. Now I will put that behind me and move onto other occasions.

See you soon,
Signing off,
Sarah

Christmas, anyone?

 Hello blogland,

After saying that I can't stand making Christmas cards - I've now made a shed-load! That's the joy of having a TTT who thinks you do nothing while she is at school and have loads of time to sit around making intricate cards for all of her friends! And, deep breath!!!

I'm all done now, and, in all honesty it's nice that she wants me to make her cards, for many years before she only wanted shop brought ones. It does mean a lot of colouring though!

I think there are too many to share, unless I do one a day right up to Christmas, and I don't know if any of you want to be bombarded with all those cards. If I get enough requests, I'll do it but otherwise I'll not overwhelm you.

Here's one from the selection I made for her:

More colouring from Mindy Baxter (My Creative Scoop) lessons - the bear and penguin is a digi image - everything else is hand-drawn and coloured with Copics while following along with the lessons.  The image is exclusive to the lessons so I can't even point you to it!

The only extra thing I used was a very old sentiment stamp, an un-branded rectangle stitched die to die-cut out the image and a piece of card to matt it onto (well other than the card blanks - obviously!).

I hope everyone is having a stress-free and safe run up to Christmas.  We were supposed to be in London for a Dickensian Christmas themed evening, but cancelled due to the huge Covid numbers. So a quiet week at home is now the plan!

And that's about it from me,
See you soon,

As You Like it Challenge: Favourite Christmas Sentiment (and why) - well now as I'm not a massive fan of Christmas I have the grand total of 10 Christmas sentiments! I do like a 'Merry Christmas' personally and have used that stamp - and I've used a 'Seasons Greetings' or 'Winter Wishes' for my non-religious cards.  Personally though, I go for longer sayings, whether sentimental or jokey, as my absolute favourites. This one is rather nice and does have 'Christmas' in there, which generally I do prefer to have on cards somewhere.

Winter Wishes

 Good morning Blogland,

Can hardly believe it's been a week since I last posted - doesn't time fly! No one major life thing kept me away from the blog, more a combination of minor things that add up to eating into my crafting time.

Although one big crafty thing keeping me busy is that TTT has asked for Christmas cards for her friends this year.  As I had just tried Mindy Baxter's (at My Creative Scoop) Winter Background classes and TTT liked the cards that I made from those classes I decided to also sign up for Snowy Scenes.  I know, it's mean blaming spending money on my hobby on the Teenager - but it's gotta be blamed on someone that's not me! ;-)

As each colouring session seems to be taking me around 6 hours (or so) and TTT wants five cards - you can tell why I've been left with little time for much else, including blogging.  How can I blog a half-made card, unless I give you very boring progress pictures.

This card is the second one I made from Winter Backgrounds - the others will probably follow in due course:

Supplies Used:

Digital Stamp:
Lee Holland Designs - Snowman and Penguin
coloured with my Copics
and white paint pen

Rubber Stamp:
Catherine Pooler - All Around Wishes

Die:
Un-branded rectangle

What I did:
I re-sized and printed the digi stamp onto Copic friendly paper and then, following the class at My Creative Scoop, coloured it in with my Copics and added details with a white paint pen. Then stamped the sentiment onto the image.

Used the die to cut the coloured panel out; used the next size up die to cut the matt; glued the two together and finally mounted it all, with 3d foam squares, onto a card blank.

et voila (after hours colouring), job done!

Hope everyone in Blogland is doing OK and, if you're interested, I'm hoping to be back again before the end of the week, but you never know - it might be longer!  Depends on how the colouring goes!!

Signing off,
Sarah

Christmas Take Two

 Hello again Blogland

As promised (or threatened?) you're getting my waffle twice this morning - and this is your second helping!

It's the first Saturday of the month and so it's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Calendar Challenge, this month as, if you hadn't noticed, it's December and Christmas is creeping up on us the challenge is: 'Christmas'

We are sponsored for this challenge by the wonderful Lili of the Valley and the lucky winner of the challenge gets to pick two images.  You lucky person!! Also the Design Team were very kindly given images to use and this is my make with my choice.

Supplies used:
Digital stamp:
Lili of the Valley - A Little Gift
coloured with my Copics

Dies:
Creative Expressions - Noble Collection: Double Stitched Squares

Anything else:
Cosmic Shimmer spritzed background paper
Red dotty ribbon
Hobby House flat backed pearls
Craftwork Cards - pre-printed sentiment

What I did:
Re-sized and printed the digi stamp onto Copic friendly paper and coloured in.
Spritzed some white card with Ocean Sparkle and Silver Moondust Cosmic Shimmer spray, then cut the card down to fit my card blank.
Wrapped the ribbon around that piece of card and glued it to the card blank.
Die-cut out the digi image and attached it to the card with 3d foam.
Added pearls to opposite corners of the digi image panel.
Added 3d foam to the sentiment and half-mounted it onto the digi image panel and half off.

et voila, job done!

As I haven't done much in the last hour and half - apart from get a sourdough loaf in the oven and head over to do weights in my 'gym' - I'm not going to waffle on about nothing!

Instead I'll say see you all again soon,
but not this soon!!
Signing off,
Sarah
