One from the vaults

 Good morning blogland,

I did say you might either not see me very much or I'd have to dig into cards made but not blogged if I wanted to post something.

It's more than likely going to be not see me much for the rest of the week, but I wanted to join in with a challenge before it closes so today it's cards not blogged.

From the above waffle you may guess I didn't have a crafty weekend!  Partly as we went out on Friday evening, partly still moving / re-arranging my craft stuff and partly just life.

The Friday evening jaunt out was to see TTT's schools' musical. She wasn't in it but some friends were and another friend (who also wasn't in it) likes musicals and persuaded TTT that she should go. Ended up with us two adults, one TTT and two TTT friends. The musical was Chicago and has to be said, for a  school production, actually rather good!

Anyways moving swiftly on, as I've got to be ready for desk arriving today, here's a card made last year but not blogged. Enjoy!

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
C.C. Designs - Birthday Gretel
coloured with Copics

Rubber stamp:
Fiskars - Quote : Make a Wish

Dies:
My Favorite Things -Die-namics STAX
Pretty Pink Posh - Scalloped Borders one

Anything else:
Vellum
pearls and flower from my stuff

What I did:
Re-sized the image and printed it out onto Copic friendly paper, coloured in with my Copics then cut it out with the STAX die.
Stamped the sentiment onto some vellum, then cut a fancy border with the Pretty Pink Posh die.
Cut some red card to fit the black card blank then glued the image panel to it and arranged the vellum border on the same card.
Added a flower and two flat backed gems.
et voila, job done!

Am off now to join up with some challenges,
See you again soon,
Sarah

No pink in sight!

Good morning blogland

It's a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin' Challenge and this fortnight the theme is 'International Women's Day' - Girly but NO PINK! An interesting one! I had no idea there was an International Woman's Day so I just ran with the Girly but 'No Pink' part of the challenge.  As end of March is also Mother's Day these cards could be for the mother or mother figure in your life. As always though we are a stamping challenge so there should be stamping (digital or rubber) on your project somewhere please.

This is the card I made:

Supplies used:

Digital Image:
C.C. Designs - Cupcake Nancy
coloured with Copics
Rubber Stamp:
Taylored Expressions - Oh My Word - Birthdays

Paper:
Cosmo Cricket - Togetherness

Dies:
My Favorite Things - InsideOut Stitched Circles
Joanna Sheen - bunting
Poppy Stamps - Scalloped Stitch Frames

What I did:
Re-sized and printed the digi stamp onto Copic friendly paper, coloured in then fussy cut out.
Used the various dies to create a frame, a circle and bunting.
Cut a piece of the patterned paper to the same size as the frame die then glued it to the back.
Added the frame and paper to the 7"x5" top fold card blank.
Cut a different piece of the patterned paper in a rectangular shape and attached it near the bottom of the card blank.
Stamped on the circle and glued that on top of the papers.
Glued the bunting to the top of the card blank.
Popped on the fussy cut image with some 3d foam.
et voila, job done!

I do hope you can find time to join in with the challenge and I look forward to seeing lots of non-pink girly cards!

In Any Other Business, the craft room is coming along apace - lots of sorting and moving done, now just waiting for desk to arrive to finally arrange.  I'll post pictures soon!

As You Like It Challenge: Favourite Occasion (and why) Hmmmm birthdays? I seem to make a lot of cards for birthdays.  I do like birthday images as, for me, they are generally people and I can try and match some characteristic in the image I'm colouring of the person the card is going to (hair / eye colour; clothing; style; hobby) and I do like to colour people the best!

Here I am again!

Good morning blogland,

Well after saying that you wouldn't see me very much for a little while, I'm popping up super regularly aren't I!

This time I'm here as a brand new permanent member of the Design Team at Colour Crazy Craft Challenges - yep, that's right I was so pleased to be asked to stay on and I jumped at the chance! A challenge that is all about colouring - right up my street!!

Let's get straight on with the challenge - as always it's an Anything Goes theme but, as we are a colouring challenge, there must be some element of hand colouring in your project. This week we are sponsored by the lovely Polkadoodles, who very kindly allowed the DT some images to use - this is my make with one of those images:

Supplies Used:

Digital image:
coloured with my Copics

Rubber stamp:
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips: Background

Dies:
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips: Asymmetrical
Whimsy Stamps - Connected Rectangle
Un-branded stitched rectangle die

Anything else:
Patterned Paper : Cosmo Cricket - Togetherness
Scrap of red card

What I did:
Re-sized and printed the digi stamp onto Copic friendly paper. Cut the paper to fit the DL card blank and coloured her in.
Cut the coloured in panel with a stitched rectangle die and glued it to the card blank.
Die-cut out the frame in white card and the patterned paper. Glued the frame to the Copic paper and then added the patterned paper into the centre of the die-cut shape.
Added the previously stamped and die-cut sentiment to the card using 3d foam as shown.
Drew a line around the coloured in panel and then added a die-cut frame using red card.
et voila, job done!

Was very nice to work with such a cute image - it's partly why I kept the rest of the card pretty simple to keep the emphasis on the image.

Am so looking forward to wandering around the entries on the blog and admiring everyone else's colouring and you should see what my Teamies have created they are fabulous projects.

see you soon,

A bit of CaS and update

 Good evening blogland

I'm making a late evening dash into blogland, with a very Clean and Simple card I made a while ago and an update on the craft/spare room - I've been shopping!

I wanted to post this card to join in with the first challenge of the year and a birthday post over at Less Is More - 11 years of challenges! I remember the challenge starting and loving the look of CAS, and I still love the look and style of CAS cards. Love doing them, they just make my brain ache, as I feel they have to be 'just so'! Also I do love stamping and colouring but many CAS cards seem to rely on die-cuts and I'd have to go out and buy a whole new ream of dies if I was to try that.  As I'm trying to cut-down not buy more, that's not happening.

So card:

Supplies used:

Stamps:
DoCrafts - Papermania: Henbury Lane
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips: Birthday

Die:
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips: Rounded

Anything else?
Woodware corner rounder punch

What I did
Took a 6x6" square card blank and rounded the edges.
Stamped the image off centre.
Stamped and die-cut the sentiment, added to the card with 3d foam for a bit of interest (didn't think it would look right glued directly onto the blank).
et voila, job done!

More news on craft/spare room, as said above went shopping today! There's an office furniture and supplies shop in our nearest town and as I had a dentist appointment in town today we decided to pop in and look at desks. Upshot is I've a second-hand desk being delivered on Monday! Also brought home with a sort of cubbyhole unit, a bit like the IKEA stuff that loads of people use - but it's in a wood look and has a back.  Not quite sure yet what I'm going to put in it but I'll find something! I'll share pictures once they are both in place and the room has been cleared a little more! Presently there's a lot of dust / dirt / cobwebs and junk in there - I'd be embarrassed to show anyone!!

So that's it from me folks, until my next DT share,
Signing off,
See you soon,

So typical of me!

 Good afternoon blogland

Look at that - a whole week since I posted last! It's only got to be one school holiday, or another, and my blogging goes down the drain! This time it was half-term's fault.

I do have another excuse though - we are turning the spare room into a craft room / spare room! I don't know if those of you who found me again since I've returned to colouring / crafting / card making will remember that I was crafting in chaos waiting for a craft room to be created and that was part of the reason I stopped crafting for around seven years?

Well the craft room never got built but what I got into instead (for about the last 3 or 4 years) is fitness - I had a couple of health scares which were put down to my weight / size.  I got serious about weight loss / fitness and work out now almost every day - there are exceptions but it is, on the whole, a regular thing. One pandemic happened and I had a melt-down about not getting to the gym and putting weight back on so hubby said right as the holiday cottage is shut use that as your gym. It can't be a forever thing though, so we are sorting out a bit of house re-modelling and that will include a new room being built for a gym.

Long story short - I've still nowhere to craft and it was decided (as we have zero overnight visitors) we don't need a dedicated spare-room.  Therefore it will be called, forever more - the craft/spare room.  Emphasis on craft.

This entails a lot of shifting of 'stuff' and chaos - hence no cards made for a week. I've spent the weekend catching up - but on the whole the next few weeks will be erratic.

Card made in serious catch-up session - and you may only see me for DT work for a bit.  Or updates on moving my stuff around the house, or I may even share a couple of cards made last year but not blogged. Oh, and that's what I'm doing: dreaming big - craft room big!

Supplies used:

Digital image:
Some Odd Girl - Geeky Mae
Coloured with Copics

Rubber stamp:
Random single sentiment stamp - no details

Dies:
Pretty Pink Posh - Scalloped Borders 1
My Favorite Things - Stitched Circle
Not sure whose the circle flourish was made by I've lost the packet

Paper:
First Edition - New Bloom

This is getting a very long post - so for What I did: Re-sized, printed and coloured in with Copics the image.  Fussy cut her out and popped her on a piece of patterned paper with 3d foam. Used a piece of kraft card cut with a border die as an edger. Took die-cut shapes I had in my bag of bits and stamped the sentiment on the plain circle, then added 3 gemstones.  Glued it all to the card blank (which is a top fold 5x7 size).
et voila, job done

Hope those of you who were in the path of these storms in the UK are all OK and everyone else is hunky dory!

See you soon,

Signing off,

Sarah

So not Valentines!

Afternoon blogland,

So, this is Valentine's Day, is it? Has to be said not something that is particularly bothered with in our house. Hubby gets me (and TTT) a bunch of flowers, but he does that even when there isn't any real reason to, so you can't say it's because it's Valentine's Day. Personally I think it's all rather over-rated, but then (as the two significant others in my household keep telling me) I'm a bit of a grump!

Having said all that, I did still make cards over the weekend that feature hearts and cuteness and a teddy and a 'love monster'.  I'll share one today and another in my next post - don't want to overwhelm you with too much lovey dovey stuff!

I reasoned that as neither card says Valentine's on it, they could be for anything and I just really wanted to colour the images! Of course, I did offer them, again, as Valentines' cards to TTT - but, again, they were turned down.  She doesn't like teddies or dinosaurs (even though I pointed out it was a monster not dinosaur) and also she and 'The Boyfriend' have agreed not to exchange cards.  Cards are just a pointless waste of natural resources - oh dear!

So here is card No 1, which shall be known as 'The Teddy':

Supplies used:
Digital image:
Lee Holland Art - Teddy with Heart
coloured with Copics

Dies:
Un-branded stitched rectangle
My Favorite Things - Die-namics: Inside out stitched circles

Paper:
My Mind's Eye - Lucky in Love

Anything Else:
Linen card
white gel pen
ages old chipboard embellishment
Pretty Pink Posh - layered hearts stencil
Distress Ink

What did I do?
Used Word to re-size the digi image, then printed out onto Copic friendly paper, coloured in with my Copics (added highlight with white gel pen) and fussy cut out.
Die-cut a rectangle from the linen card, then cut a corner out with the circular die.
Stencilled hearts over that panel with the Pretty Pink Posh stencil and some Distress Ink.
Glued patterned paper to the back of the panel and glued it all to the card blank.
Popped the teddy onto 3d foam and attached it over the patterned paper.
Added the chipboard embellishment as shown on the linen card.
et voila, job done!

To my mind the 'fall in love - forever' embellishment comes across as a bit sinister. We're going to be together forever (maniacal laughter follows) but then I have a very dark sense of humour and a cynical / grumpy mindset - I'm sure to everyone else it's a lovely sentiment!

Also the picture is very light - I'm still playing with the settings on the light box and find I can't leave it at one setting for every card, works for darker backgrounds but my lighter cards end up being a bit washed out.  I'm learning!!

So hope everyone who does 'do' Valentines has a lovely day - and if you don't 'do' Valentines, have an even lovelier day!! :-)

No 1 Dad

Good afternoon blogland,

Am rushing in here with being extremely late to the party with a card for the new challenge over at Colour Crazy Craft Challenge, as always it's Anything Goes theme, but we are a colouring challenge so there has to be some element of hand colouring on your entry to be eligible to win the prize or a Top 3 pick.

For this week's challenge, I've used a brilliant image for those wonderful TBDHs (or The Best Dad in the Houses or, as no doubt more 'normal' people call them - fathers, dads, daddies, step-dads!), #1 Dad,  from our fabulous sponsor Jan's Digi Stamps. As it's a masculine card this time, I left off all the sparkly, glittery, shiny stuff and went with a more graphic, clean cut, design.

I won't bombard you with waffle this time (that can be saved for the next post - we had TTT's end of term report yesterday and projected GCSE grades - eeek!) as I'm super late.  Just point you in the direction of my card, and the challenge! Wonder if you'd like to come join in? I'd love to see your creation!! :-)

Supplies used:

Digital image:
Jan's Digital Stamp Shop - #1 Dad
coloured with my Copics

Rubber stamp:
Taylored Expression - Simple Strips: Man, Myth, Legend (for the sentiment)

Dies:
Taylored Expression - Simple Strips: Well Rounded
Also one for the edge of dotty paper but that was a scrap and I can't remember what die I used.

Anything else?
Echo Park Paper - Splash
Gunmetal grey card
Woodware corner rounder punch

What I did:
Re-sized, printed (on Copic friendly paper) and fussy cut out the digital stamp.
Took a sheet of the patterned paper, cut it to size and rounded the corners with a punch.
Matted the paper onto card, cut to size and rounded the edges of that with the same punch.
Glued the patterned paper and card onto the card blank, then glued the die-cut onto the bottom of them.
Added 3d foam to the image and sentiment then popped them onto the front of the card.
et voila, job done!

I'll be back soon!

Colouring drama!

Good evening blogworld,

I was feeling quite pleased with myself after my first attempt the other day at no-lines colouring so thought I'd have another go.

This time it's gone Hmmmm!!! I think I might've picked the wrong image for my level of non-expertise, it was blooming hard! So to help me along a bit I decided to stamp another of the same image and colour that in as well.  I'm pretty sure the paper I used to stamp my ordinary image onto, was not Copic friendly even though it was in my Copic paper folder. It did not go well!

The no-lines image was definitely on Copic paper - it blended wonderfully, even if I was struggling with the image itself. However, the other one - my goodness it just would not go right! I struggled along but was about to bin it when TTT came home. Showed her the two images, talked about my colouring woes and she said 'but what are you worrying about - I like the one without lines the best, but they are both really good'! This from my biggest critic! So I said I'd carry on and turn them both into cards, which I finished today.

Here is the evidence for y'all to take a look at:

No-Lines

  Memento Ink pad:

Supplies used:

Rubber stamp:
Stamping Bella - Uptown Girls: Pattie and Dottie friends forever
coloured with Copics
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips : Friendship

Dies:
Catherine Pooler - 'Bestie'
My Favorite Things - Fishtail Foundations
Pretty Pink Posh - Scallop Borders One
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips : Asymmetrical

Anything else:
Dotty paper
Hobbyhouse rhinestones
fineliner for the doodling
Martha Stewart - essential colours glitter set
white gel pen

I'm not going to do the 'This is what I did' bit as it's repetitive, other than to say the no-lines colouring image went on the card on a large panel of Copic paper and the Memento Ink stamped one I fussy cut out.

Never say that I'm afraid to share - or even over-share - warts and all!

Hope everyone's colouring (if that's what you're into) has gone better this week.

Who would receive this one?

Good morning blogland,

I'm sure you will all be relieved to hear that TTT had a lovely weekend at her friends, and I have a huge pile of her washing to do! I do not understand how two nights at a friends' house generated a pile of washing, but there you go it did. If she was a bit older I would've guessed they'd snuck out to a club, but she's not older - her friend lives in an only slightly less isolated place than us and the friends parents kept an eye on them all weekend! Ho hum!

So onto this card, I made this in the quiet time I had while TTT was off enjoying herself - I showed herself when she came home and asked, so I'm told, a very silly question.  Said silly question was - "Would you like this card to give to your boyfriend for Valentines?" It would appear I'm the daftest person in the world - this is not a girl to boy card, as far as TTT is concerned it's a boy to girl, or girl to girl, or a birthday card - not a Valentine card for her.

If I'd like to make her a card - I was told - she'll let me know before the 14th if they are exchanging cards and what sort of card she'd like, but this one can go in my 'pile of them'.

Oh the critics! So I thought I'd share this card with my bloggy / crafting friends and ask the self same silly question - Valentines card or birthday card?

All opinions gratefully received!

Supplies used:

Digital stamp:
Ching-chou Kuik Digital Stamps - Love Balloon
coloured with my Copics

Rubber stamp:
Taylored Expression - Simple Strips : Background

Dies:
Taylored Expression - Simple Strips : Asymmetrical
un-branded heart die

Anything else?
My Mind's Eye - Lucky in Love papers

What I did:
Re-sized and printed the digi onto Copic friendly paper, coloured it in and fussy cut out.
Die-cut the heart from white card and then again from a sheet of patterned paper.
Attached the white heart die-cut to the card blank with 3d foam, then glued the discarded inner heart from the die-cut patterned paper to the card blank in the middle of the white card die.
Attached a pre-stamped and die-cut sentiment to the top of the card with 3d foam.
Attached the digi stamp to the card blank also with 3d foam.
et voila, job done!

I don't know now what this card is! Teenagers are very confusing and I'm quite glad I've only the one (and occasional visiting one) to deal with.

Hope everyone else is getting better results with their Valentines' makes - if, of course, you are bothering. Not sure I will this year!!! :-)

It's oh so quiet!

 Good morning blogland,

It's very quiet chez Sarah today - TTT's gone off for a sleepover with one of her school friends.  They've been friends for most of their lives, met when they were 2 and going into Nursery and now are in Year 10 in the same school, same class, same form! She went after school yesterday (Fri) and we go pick her up tomorrow (Sun) so two whole nights without her!! Poor thing it's been hard on her with the pandemic and not being allowed to go over friends, so this is very exciting for her.  You should have seen how much she crammed into two back-packs!!

There's my waffle for the day and now onto the point of the post - it's a new month and so a new challenge over at Crafty Calendar Challenge and the theme this month is Anything Goes.  We have a wonderful sponsor, Paper Nest Dolls, and prize for this challenge:

And the card I made with an image we were very kindly allowed to use:

Supplies used:

Digital image:
Paper Nest Dolls - Goth Ellie
coloured with my Copics

Rubber Stamp:
My Favorite Things - Totally Awesome!

Anything else?
Glitz Paper Pack - Pretty in Pink
Hobbyhouse - pearls

What I did:
Re-sized and printed the digital image on Copic friendly paper, then printed, coloured in with my Copics and fussy cut out.
Took two sheets of patterned paper and cut them to fit the 5x5 card blank bottom third.  Tore along the top edge of each, glued one on top of the other and glued both to the card base.
Popped some 3d foam onto the image and added that to the card base as shown.
Stamped the sentiment on the top of the card blank, added some gems for interest.
et voila, job done!

Really getting into this whole staging of cards thing - been fun looking through my old stash to see what I can use!!

My Teamies over at CCC have made some lovely inspiration cards as well and we would love to see what everyone else makes - so why not make something (doesn't have to be a card!) and pop it into the challenge!

Gone floral

Good afternoon blogland

Still living on the edge and blogging at odd times! I'm sure I'll get back to early morning blogging soon, but at the minute it's all over the shop.

No interesting life to waffle on about at the minute - things seem very quiet, ooh except that TTT went back to school, yay! Only one day of disruptions! Also got some things ordered for her GCSE Geography trip to Iceland in September. Pleased about that.

Now a question for UK people I've finally almost ran out of plain black card - I had a huge pile of A4 card now that's down to a couple of sheets.  Where does everyone buy their plain card (I tend to use either 300 / 340 gsm)? It's probably going to have to be brought on-line as there are no card shops near me, so postage needs to be taken into account.  Hit me with your recommendations!

Oooh and while I'm here, I might as well post the card I made! 😂

For some reason I went floral, not my usual thing at all! Here's the evidence:

Supplies used:

Digital stamp (image):
Alex Syberia Design - Spring Bouquet
coloured with Copics

Rubber stamp (sentiment):
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips: Birthday

Dies:
Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips: Aysmmetrical
Un-branded rectangle stitched die

What I did:
Printed the digital image onto Copic friendly paper (re-sized to my 5x7 card blank) and printed out.
Coloured the image in with my Copics.
Die-cut out the image with the stitched dies, to create a base and frame.
Glued the inner panel to card blank, added 3d foam to the outer panel lined it up with the base panel and stuck it down.
Added 3d foam to previously stamped and die-cut sentiment and added it to the card over both the raised frame and flat image.
et voila, job done!

So as I've waffled on (after saying there was nothing to waffle on about) at length above, I'll just say cheerio for now here, and see you later.

Signing off,
Sarah
