Paper, paper, everywhere

 Hello blogland

It's the first Saturday in the month and so time for a new challenge over at Crafty Calendar Challenge and the challenge theme this month is 'Die cuts / paper pieced'.  As always there is a little prize on offer for a randomly chosen winner and a Top 5 spot from the DT for their favourite entries.

It's a very friendly challenge and the rules are very simple - follow the theme and don't backlink.  The only other thing we ask is that you keep to a maximum of 3 entries per person.  That's it - really simple and easy.

Now I, obviously, use dies / die cut pieces all the time - so I decided I'd go old fashioned and do some paper piecing along with using my dies.  It is a challenge, after all! What do you think of the result?

Supplies used:

Rubber stamps:
Time For Tea stamps for Whimsy Stamps: Ponytail
coloured with my Copics and paper pieced
taylored expressions: Simple Strips - Background

Dies:
Creative Expressions: Noble Collection - stitched squares
Spellbinders: A Little Hello
Time For Tea: Rounded Corner Dies
taylored expressions: Simple Strips - well rounded

Patterned Paper:
Basic Grey: Sultry

Anything else:
Distress Ink
Copic fineliner

It's been a long time since I made a card like this - rubber stamps, paper piecing, square card, 6x6 paper pack.  All I needed to add was some flowers and it'd be like I was in a time warp and had been taken back 20 years!

Anyways, a card I enjoyed making and liked when it was finished, which is a rarity for me!  Also I made variations on a theme - so you may well be seeing similar looking cards coming up in the future.

I wasn't sure at the beginning if I had the right idea using the patterned paper on the die-cut sentiment - but in the end I thought it come out quite well.  It also followed both the die-cuts and paper piecing theme.

So there we go, a card I'm pleased with.

My teamies have all made lovely cards as well - you really should go check them out!

I'm also looking forward to going around and seeing all your cards as well.

See you all soon,
Sarah
